Intro to Me

Who am I as a writer? What is a writer? Am I a unique writer? Why do I write? These are all questions that I have not really thought about. They are difficult questions to answer.
I am trying to figure out what kind of writer I am. But am I a certain kind? I don't really know. I would consider myself creative. I love art. But isn't writing an art? I have not had much experience with writing. The only writing I have done have been cut and dry assignments from teachers in high school. I have found ways to make assignments different, unique. So I would say I am unique, not just as a writer, but as a person. Writing is a way to express myself. Express my uniqueness.

Hi Lauren,
I don't think anyone starts out a writer. One thing I have noticed though, your writing gets better the more you read. I am 42 and I can honestly say I never read a single book in high school, nor did I write any reports or research papers until the last few weeks of my last semester of my senior year.
I was lazy. The only reason I did anything my last semester was because my english teacher threatened to fail me if I didn't do all of the assignment for that year. Well, I did them all and managed to graduate.
As an adult I began to read a lot. The more I read the more I wanted to write. It started with a journal that ended my marriage, writing assignments as an old man in college, and now I write articles for my own blogs and web sites. I don't know what type of writer I am either but I have fun.
Good luck with your studies.
